FREE Things to do with Your Family!

If you feel like you are always searching for an activity to do with your family, you are not alone! It seems that parents are continuously on the lookout for a cool new activity or venue to visit. One idea it so search for a free activity. Whether you are watching your family budget or not, free is always good! Here are a few ideas to add to your list. Check one out this weekend or tuck this list away for a backup plan when you are out of ideas. This list is just a start, Contra Costa Super Moms will be adding more free activity ideas from time to time!

Farmers Markets
While you might end up spending money while there, Contra Costa Farmers Markets are perfect to get the kids outside. Most feature music and kids activities. And you can’t beat the fact that you will be teaching your kids about healthy foods at the same time! Farmers Markets are a win-win for everyone.

Go for a Hike
Get outdoors, let the kids explore and create a healthy experience for your family. Please note some trails may have a parking fee. Check before you go.

Library Storytime
Every city has a library and most have storytime once or more each day and sometimes on weekends too. Ages 0 & up (check with your library for details).

San Francisco Giants Baseball Games (April-September)
You can view up to 3 innings of a San Francisco Giants game for free! The viewing area is located on the McCovey Cove side of the stadium on the ground level. 

Visit a Park
Try a new park out! one in your own city or make a small trip out of it and visit a neighboring city park. You never know what you might discover! Check recreation departments websites. Parks are usually listed under Parks & Recreation or Community Services.

Walt Disney Family Museum in SF
Located in the Presidio, the Walt Disney Family Museum is a must go to for families! Learn how Mickey Mouse came to be famous and the history of your favorite Disney characters. While you can always pay for admission, on the lower level of the main building, the Theater Gallery and Lower Lobby Gallery host small-scale, rotating special exhibitions; these exhibitions are typically free to the general public, or admission to them is included with main museum admission. The recommended viewing time for these exhibitions is generally 30 minutes.
