Hiking in Benicia

Benicia State Recreation Area is located next to the Carquinez Straights and has beautiful views of the bay and surrounding hills. This 5 mile out and back trail is perfect for families. Kids can learn to ride a bike, scooter, or walk on this mostly level path. Take a side trail along the water or up in the hills for more breathtaking views. Bring your binoculars, wildlife is abundant here! The main trail is paved and is stroller friendly and dogs are allowed on leash. Pay a daily fee to drive in, or park for free on side streets near K Street and Military West. The drive-in entrance is located off of Rose Drive near the hwy 780 entrance/exit. Don’t forget to pack a lunch, there are many picnic tables with water views to soak up the sun and the surrounding nature. A must to add to your bucket list!
